The rules, in plain words
Last updated October 23, 2026
Draft for review. A lawyer should check this page before launch. This note isn’t part of the live page.
The short version
- Your ideas and work are yours.
- Be honest with the people you talk to.
- FoundUp helps you think. It isn’t legal, financial or tax advice.
- Be kind and lawful, or we may close your account.
1. Using FoundUp
- You need to be 18 or older to use FoundUp.
- One account per person. Keep your sign-in safe, and tell us if you think someone else is using it.
2. Your content is yours
- You own your ideas, notes, answers and plans.
- You let us store and process them only to run FoundUp for you and your team.
- You’re responsible for what you add, including what you write about other people.
3. Working with cofounders
- Ideas you share with a team are shared with everyone on it.
- How you split work and ownership is for you and your cofounders to agree. “To agree on” in the team chat helps you keep track, but it isn’t a contract. Put important agreements in writing.
4. Not legal or financial advice
- Prices, market sizes, odds and advisor share suggestions are estimates to help you think.
- Check equity, contracts and tax with a lawyer or accountant.
- Payments you take from your customers are between you and them.
5. Talking to people
- Be honest with the people you interview and sell to.
- Follow local rules on contacting people, taking notes and recording.
6. Fair use
- No spam, harassment, scraping, or anything illegal.
- Don’t try to break FoundUp or get into other people’s accounts.
7. Ending your account
- You can delete your account any time from Account.
- We may pause or close accounts that break these terms. When we can, we’ll tell you first and explain why.
8. Changes
- If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
