How we treat your data
Last updated October 23, 2026
Draft for review. A lawyer should check this page before launch. This note isn’t part of the live page.
The short version
- Your ideas, notes and answers are yours. We never sell them.
- Cofounders see your fit, never your answers.
- Only you and your team see your notes about the people you interview.
- You can download or delete everything, any time.
1. What we collect
- Your account: your name, your email, and how you sign in: a password, or the LinkedIn or Google account you use.
- What you tell us about you: your goal and hours, your answers to the skills questions, the worlds you know, and what you say in “Tell us about it”.
- Your work: ideas, plans, problems you’ve noticed, people you add, interview notes, and team chats.
- Your voice: when you talk or dictate, we turn it into text and keep the recording with your account, so you can listen back. You can delete recordings any time from Account.
- How you use FoundUp: basic usage, like which screens load slowly, so we can fix problems.
2. How we use it
- To run FoundUp for you: check ideas, sum up interviews, suggest ideas and cofounders, and send the notifications you’ve turned on.
- We use AI models from other companies to do some of this. They can’t use your content to train their models.
- If you turn it on in Account, we use your voice recordings to improve FoundUp for you, like understanding your voice and the words you use. It stays off until you choose it, and you can turn it off any time.
- We never sell your data, and there are no ads in FoundUp.
3. Who can see what
- You see everything you add.
- Your team sees the ideas you share with them, the people and notes for those ideas, and the team chat.
- Cofounders you invite see how well you fit. They never see your answers.
- Advisors see nothing unless you share it with them.
- We look only when you ask for help or to keep FoundUp safe.
4. People you interview
Your notes are about real people, so treat them with care.
- Tell people you’re taking notes, and why.
- Write down what helps you learn. Leave out health details and anything else sensitive.
- If someone asks to be removed, delete them. Their notes go with them.
5. Keeping it safe
- Your data is encrypted when it travels and when it’s stored.
- We keep it only as long as your account is open, then delete it. Backups clear within 30 days.
6. Your choices
- Download everything or delete your account any time, from Account.
- Choose which notifications you get.
- Ask us what we hold about you, or to correct it, at [email protected].
